Great Decisions is the nation’s oldest, most popular program of citizen education in world affairs. The common purpose is to help members to become informed and involved, and to understand how world events affect their daily lives. The University Club, in cooperation with IU’s Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and Meadowood Retirement Community, offers this program for the 2025 year.
There is no cost to join The Great Decisions Group. Briefing books are being provided at no cost to our members, due to a generous donation by the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. If you would like to get a book, please contact Mary Anheuser or Jean Cook. Meetings are held in person in the Terrace Room in the main building at Meadowood.
Members may, but are not required, to read the chapter on the assigned topic prior to the meeting. We show a short 20-minute video from the national headquarters. This is followed by a guest speaker, who lectures on the assigned topic, then conducts a spirited Q & A period. The meeting begins promptly at 1:15pm and concludes at 2:30pm. Most speakers generously continue to answer questions after the formal meeting concludes.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, 8 April 2025. We will be discussing Competition, Cold War, or Conflict? Navigating US-China Relations in Tense Times. Our guest lecturer will be Dr. Hong Zhang
